ELF7 - Portable Earth Fault Locator
Finding the location of an earth fault from the values measured in primary substations is still not reliable even though very intelligent instruments are used. Problems on the lines are therefore located by visual inspection of the line.
The ELF7 is designed to assist the service team in locating the problematic line segment. Measurements are taken directly underneath the MV lines and the device automatically detects the formation of earth faults and determines their relative position.
The ELF7 must be in parallel orientation with the line, regardless of which direction. The result of the measurement is information on whether the earth fault is between the measured point and the primary substation or behind the measured point.
How to locate ground connections quickly and easily?
The main advantages: easy and quick localization of the earth fault, shortening of the time of network failure, no network decompensation during localization, reduction of dangerous touch voltage, reduction of the risk of fire and other hazards caused by high current at the earth fault.
Note: The ELF7 is primarily designed for use in compensated networks with an active component connection. Versions for use in resistively grounded and isolated networks can be supplied according to customer requirements.

The numbers show the order of measurement, the colour shows the measurement result – the colour of the LED on the device. The maintenance worker takes a measurement on each branch. If the line branch is affected by a earth fault, the LED is red.
